Choosing A Fireplace Mantel Style

Choosing A Fireplace Mantel Style

Often the center-point of a living space, the fireplace is where we gather to relax, cuddle up, and be with the ones we love. But when it comes to choosing a mantel style? What's the best choice? Well that really depends on your personal style and preferences. We offer a variety of options - all of them one-of-a-kind and handcrafted to bring a sense of warmth and history to your space. Here's a quick overview of the mantel styles we offer at Dakota Timber. And don't forget, all of our mantels are made right here in the USA.

Reclaimed Rough-Sawn Rustic Mantels

Our most popular mantel style is our authentic, Reclaimed Wood Mantel style. These are one-of-a-kind reclaimed mantels made from beams that have been salvaged from historic grain elevators and barns throughout the Midwest. These unique pieces will add character and warmth to your home.  They are kiln-dried, hand sanded and ready to install. While this option might seem like the more rustic choice, the style pairs beautifully with modern designs as well.

Reclaimed Re-Sawn Mantels

In addition to our reclaimed mantels we also offer Re-Sawn Mantels. These are one-of-a-kind mantels typically made out of Minnesota pine or fir. These mantels are full of authentic characteristics which may include checking and twisting. They are kiln-dried, hand sanded and ready to install. We often stain these mantels using one of our custom stain finishes for a beautiful finished look. The first example below is a resawn mantel stained with our Graystone finish and the one beneath it is finished in our Brown finish.

Our Urban Hardwood Mantels are are beautiful option for people looking for a very modern and clean look. These mantels are manufactured out of lumber that comes from locally salvaged trees that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. All of our mantels are manufactured in Fargo, ND.

Live-Edge Mantels

We occasionally offer Live-Edge Mantels which feature a beautiful and unique live, raw edge on the face of the mantel. These mantels are typically sold unfinished or clear coated, but could also be stained. This is a wonderful option for someone looking to add a natural element to their home in a rustic or modern way.
